Wirral News' Flickr group

It is my job to look after the Wirral News Flickr group and pick my favourite picture each week to be published in the paper.

This is such a joy, because I love looking at beautiful pictures and the Wirral News' group is full of them.

At first I was taken aback by the sheer talent of Wirral's photographers and the amount of stunning scenes that can be captured in our borough.

But then I remembered how amazing the sky looks as the sun sets on the beach when I go for a evening run along the promenade between Leasowe and Meols.

I always prefer going just before sunset because the light is so soft and warm. The tide is often out, but there are usually small pools and streams glistening across the sand.

I think this point represents our peninsula at its most picturesque and lots of people on Flickr seem to agree because it has inspired lots of their pictures.

Our Flickr group is definitely worth having a look at and if you think you can add something special to the selection - you should, because I'd love to see what you can capture.

Once you've created your page, search in groups for the Wirral News and start sharing your shots.

We'll host the best of them in the Wirral News every week.
